After earning a B.Sc. degree with a focus on microbiology and zoology, Dr. Anita Glockner completed the B.Sc. (Dent) Program at the University of Manitoba. This two-year research degree gave her the opportunity to study a new way to detect periodontal disease in smokers. Today, she practices general dentistry, with a focus on restorative dentistry, using nitrous oxide sedation for nervous patients, placing implants, and working with patients who wear their teeth.
Anita comes by her love of dentistry quite naturally. It was her mother - an accomplished dentist and entrepreneur – who built the practice almost 30 years ago and inspired her daughter to pursue a career in dentistry. Working for many years as a mother/daughter team made Anita’s experience in the profession even more special. Not only did dentistry provide a unique opportunity to improve patients’ oral health, it allowed her remain active in science and continue to develop and apply her natural artistic skills.
While running a practice can be hectic, Anita thrives on the varied experiences it provides. She enjoys wearing many hats and juggling of all of the moving parts involved in operating a busy clinic. She is extremely proud of her dental team and the fact that the office so closely reflects her business values. Her team, she explains, is committed to caring for patients at the highest ethical and professional level, and ensuring a high degree of patient satisfaction. They believe in getting to know individuals on a personal level and building long-term relationships based on genuine empathy and trust.
As our resident outdoors enthusiast, when not at the office, Anita can generally be found hiking or running one of Manitoba’s spectacular trails. Whether at work or at play, she believes in rolling up her sleeves and making the most of whatever activity she’s involved in. She enjoys spending time with her family (usually outdoors), working out (typically at the gym), and cooking (often from scratch). Anita’s latest preoccupation is discovering useful tips on how to survive the home renovation she’s about to undergo!
